Kadalebele-Sabakki Payasa(Chana dal Paysam)





INGREDIENTS:


Kadalebele(Chana dal) 1 cup
Sabudhana - 1/2 cup
Milk - 1 cup (Thick)
Coconut Milk - 1 cup (I extract milk from fresh coconut)
Jaggery - 1 cup
Cardamom(Yelakki)crushed 1 tsp
Ghee 1 tblsp
Handfull of cashews and raisins to garnish.



METHOD:


1)Pressure cook chana dal with 1 cup water for 1 whistle.

2)In the meantime cook sabudhana with 1 cup boiling water for 5 mins(or you can soak it for 2 hours).

3)In a pan add jaggery and 1 cup water.Once jaggery is melted add 1 cup milk and bring it to boil.

4)Then to this add sabudhana and cook on medium heat for 8 mins.

5)Add cooked chana dal and coconut milk to this mixture and continue to cook for another 8 to 10 mins on low heat.

6)In another pan add ghee.When it hot add cashews,raisins and fry.

7)Add cashews,raisins and cardamom powder to the mixture and turn off the heat.
