CHOLE MASALA (Chickpeas curry)




INGREDIENTS:

1 cup channa(Chickpeas)
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Jeera 1 tsp
Ginger and Garlic 2 tsp
Tomato 2 finely chopped (Or tomato paste)
Onion 1 finely chopped
Turmeric a pinch
Chole masala powder
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 1tsp
Garam masala powder 1/2 tsp
Fresh Cream(Optional)
Fresh coriander leaves
Salt
Oil 2 Tblsp



METHOD:


1) Soak channa in water for 5 to 6 hours and then pressure cook (I add a small piece of cinnamon stick and 1 clove to get nice aroma).

2)In a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds, jeera when it splutters add ginger, garlic and saute.

3)Add onions and saute until it is light brown.

4) Add tomato(I used tomato paste) and cook for 5 mins.

5) Now add all the powders and cook for another 5 mins.

6) Then add cooked channa dal to this mixture and adjust the seasonings and cook for 5 mins.

7)Turn off the heat and add fresh cream.Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve hot with rotis.
